Although we tend to think of neon as being just for signs, it is actually a wonderful source of lighting as well.
Neon tubes give off very little heat, allowing them to be mounted on nearly any surface. They burn for thousands of hours, and can be re-pumped or replaced easily if they do burn out or become dim. This makes them ideal for mounting in hard-to-access areas that need light.
Best of all, neon tubes draw very little power, making them an excellent source of inexpensive, long-term lighting. You may not have realized it, but neon is actually a very “green” (environmentally friendly) product.
Units can be any color, straight, curved, revealed or recessed. The example above shows a straight white neon tube being used to light a dark area over kitchen cabinets. The tube itself is not visible.
